Thunderbird Show Park (tbird), located in Langley, British Columbia, is one of North America’s premier equestrian event facilities. Each year, the park hosts 12 weeks of globally recognized hunter and jumper tournaments, attracting elite riders from around the world, and thousands of spectators for each event. With advanced facilities, a stunning natural setting, and a dedication to promoting excellence in equestrian sports, tbird is a top destination for equestrians and their fans.
tbird sought to upgrade from their current ticketing provider to a digital solution, eliminating the need for cumbersome wristbands and capturing more attendee data to enhance the overall experience. They needed a solution to streamline ticket sales, unlock new sales and marketing channels, and improve the attendee experience.
Fobi developed a comprehensive mobile wallet pass strategy that went beyond simply selling and digitizing event tickets. Our approach identified every opportunity to leverage mobile passes—not just for ticketing, but also as a tool for marketing, communication, engagement, and operational improvements. By understanding their needs, we crafted a collection of mobile wallet passes that met all of tbird’s business objectives while providing attendees with a highly personalized and enhanced event experience.
Fobi introduced a custom-branded ticketing platform to support online event ticket sales, enabling centralized event registration and the sale of multiple ticket types . In addition to creating a seamless purchasing experience for attendees, it enabled the collection of valuable customer data to drive their mobile wallet strategy.
With Fobi’s ticketing solution, exhibitors, spectators, VIPs, and sponsors received their tickets as mobile wallet passes for their Apple or Google Wallet, transforming tickets into more than just access credentials. Our unique bundling functionality allowed users to download a personalized set of up to 10 passes, conveniently grouped in their mobile wallet according to their level of access and attendee type.
Additionally, we were able to update passes in real-time throughout the event, maximizing the use of each bundle without requiring attendees to download a new set of passes.

To enhance security, we developed specialized passes with photo ID verification for VIP areas and a separate pass for access to the high-security FEI zone. In both cases, our SmartScan app quickly and accurately verified IDs, ensuring that only authorized individuals gained access.

Fobi addressed key operational bottlenecks at tbird by implementing automated geofenced notifications. This technology prompted attendees to access their tickets directly from their mobile phone’s lock screen as they approached the venue, reducing entry delays and improving the overall flow of the event.
